Airports, or 'A Study In Terror.'

I'm not sure I've seen David McCallum looking quite as scared as he does in some of these photos when he steps off the plane at London Airport on March 16th, 1966, for the U.N.C.L.E. promotional tour. Imagine being a shy, private, retiring actor, and coming home to a mob of screaming hormonal girls who all want to rip your clothes off or kidnap you and keep you in their bedroom. Thus is the reality of Illya-mania.

There's also a video of his arrival here on youtube. It doesn't have sound but it's fun to watch.

These photos are pretty much all of that single date, except where noted. There's also a shot of Robert Vaughn looking utterly suave at Heathrow, as one would expect him to look. Pretty man.

This is a face of utter terror.

This is from the Man From U.N.C.L.E. tour, but I don't know which one or where. It looks like it might be at an airport, since he's carrying a suitcase, and looks terrified.

Robert Vaughn, oh, Robert Vaughn, looking so very utterly elegant at Heathrow. One would almost expect him to burst into song and dance.

    1. Especially after a horrendously long flight from the west coast of the US, and the eight hour time difference. You'd be half-zombie even without the screaming hormonal teenagers to deal with!
